Final Project: Proximity Analysis of the Bobwhite-Manatee Transmission Line
In this project, I conducted a proximity analysis of the Bobwhite-Manatee transmission line to assess its impact on local communities, environmentally sensitive lands, homes, and schools. Using ArcGIS Pro, the analysis helped determine the extent to which the transmission line would disrupt the surrounding areas. Environmentally Sensitive Lands The first objective was to quantify the impact on conservation lands and wetlands. I used GIS tools to intersect the corridor with conservation areas, calculating the total acreage affected. The analysis revealed minimal impact, along with a small overlap with conservation lands. Homes in Proximity Next, I identified homes within a 400-foot buffer of the transmission line. By digitizing homes from aerial imagery and using the buffer tool, I found that 64 homes were within proximity. This helps quantify the potential impact on residents.
